SUBIC, Zambales, Philippines — An alleged major drug trafficker and his wife were arrested in a sting in this town yesterday.
Joemmeir John Leaphart, 35, and Angelica Leaphart, 34, were collared at past 3 a.m. at their house in Barangay Calapacuan, according to Maj. Mark Louie Sigua, chief of the Subic police.
Sigua said Joemmeir John is allegedly a member of the Naldi Drug Group and included in the watchlist of the regional police.
The suspects reportedly yielded shabu with an estimated street value of P1.54 million.
Aside from shabu, police said drug paraphernalia and marked money were also seized from the couple.
Meanwhile, eight barangays and a town in Pangasinan have been declared drug-free, according to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
Among those cleared of illegal drugs in December were the town of Balungao as well as villages located in Asingan, Bani, Dagupan, Infanta, San Fabian and San Carlos, the PDEA said.
