CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — A village chief is facing criminal charges for illegal discharge of firearms in San Antonio, Quezon on Saturday.

The complainants – Rose Yen Carreon, president of 4K of Barangay Balat Atis and auditor of 4K Foundation, and her seven companions – were having their Christmas party at the covered court in Barangay Balat Atis when the wife of barangay chairman Jose Ferdinand Castillo reportedly summoned them to the official’s house.

Catalina Castillo was talking to the complainants when her husband reportedly drew and fired his gun.

The village chief reportedly ordered his wife to tell the complainants to leave.

Police said charges for alarm and scandal through illegal discharge of firearms would be filed against Castillo.
