‘NPA leader’ nabbed in Antipolo

MANILA, Philippines — A suspected leader of the New People’s Army (NPA) was arrested in Antipolo City in Rizal on Friday.
Melanie Sumayang, 59, was apprehended by joint police and military teams in Barangay Mayamot at around 11:45 a.m.
Sumayang is reportedly a leader of the NPA’s Komite sa Bayan-Rizal.
The arrest was based on a warrant issued by a court in Mauban, Quezon for two counts of frustrated murder. Bail was set at P32,000 for each count.
Sumayang was brought to the city police station for documentation.
