Rail lines shorten hours for Christmas, New Year weekends

MANILA, Philippines —  Rail lines in Metro Manila have declared their trips would be adjusted for the Christmas and New Year weekends.

The Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) and the Light Rail Transit Lines 1 (LRT-1) and 2 (LRT-2) said their operating hours would be shorter today and on Dec. 31, New Year’s Eve.

The LRT-2’s last train trips – usually set at 9:30 p.m. – would be at 8 p.m. going to Recto and 8:30 p.m. going to Antipolo today and at 7 p.m. going to Recto and 7:30 p.m. going to Antipolo on Dec. 31.

The MRT-3 will implement shortened train schedules today and on Dec. 31. The first trip will be at 4:37 a.m. from North Avenue station and 5:18 a.m. from Taft Avenue station while the last trip will be at 7:48 p.m. from North Avenue station and 8:26 p.m. from Taft Avenue station.

At the LRT-1, the last train would leave Baclaran station at 8 p.m. and Roosevelt station at 8:15 p.m. today. On Dec. 31, the last train would leave Baclaran station at 7 p.m. and Roosevelt station at 7:15 p.m.

Normal train journey schedules for LRT-2 and LRT-1 would resume on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1, 2023.

The MRT-3 also announced first trips from North Avenue and Taft Avenue stations would be both at 6:30 a.m. and last trips at 9:30 p.m. from North Avenue station and 10:09 p.m. from Taft Avenue station.

Meanwhile, the Philippine National Railways announced the following timetables for PNR train trips on Dec. 31: first trip to Alabang at 5:36 a.m. and last trip at 2:06 p.m., first trip from San Pedro to Tutuban at 4:50 a.m. and first trip from Biñan to Tutuban at 5:25 a.m.

It also released schedules for train trips on Jan. 1, 2023: first trip from Tutuban to Alabang at 10:06 a.m. and last trip at 9:16 p.m., first trip from Alabang to Tutuban at 11:32 a.m. and last trip at 8:02 p.m., and trips between Tutuban and Biñan at 7:16 p.m. and between Tutuban and San Pedro at 8:16 p.m.
