TACLOBAN CITY, Philippines — A seven-year-old boy died after his father asked him to drink pesticide in Mahaplag, Leyte on Monday.
A belated police report said the boy was declared dead on arrival in a hospital.
Police said the father of the victim was brought to the Eastern Visayas Regional Medical Center for treatment of a possible mental illness.
Probers said the suspect had been depressed after his wife left him because he is jobless.
The suspect reportedly drank pesticide as he tried to commit suicide recently.
