2,000 PCG personnel deployed for holiday season

MANILA, Philippines — Nearly 2,000 Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) personnel have been deployed in 15 district offices nationwide to beef up security measures at ports during the holiday season.
The PCG said 1,934 frontline personnel inspected 380 vessels and 437 motorized boats as 50,973 outbound and 48,694 inbound passengers were monitored from 6 a.m. till noon yesterday.
PCG districts, stations and substations nationwide have been placed on heightened alert from Dec. 15 to Jan. 7, 2023 to manage the expected influx of passengers.
Up to 107 K9 teams were deployed in various transportation hubs to ensure the safety of commuters going home for Christmas under the PCG’s “Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Pasko 2022.”
At least 345 bomb-sniffing dogs and 193 narcotics detection dogs were deployed.

The PCG reminded travelers not to bring prohibited items such as flammable materials, including firecrackers, bladed items, liquor and deadly weapons.
