NCRPO slams 2 cops held in Makati for extortion
MANILA, Philippines — The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) yesterday condemned the two policemen who were arrested for alleged extortion in Makati.
Last week, Patrolmen Mark Dann Advincula and Mark Joseph Segador were apprehended by operatives of the police Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group during an entrapment operation.
Advincula and Segador reportedly stole two cellular phones and demanded P50,000 from the owner in exchange for the gadgets.
“We condemn this act of disregard and disrespect not only to the police uniform, but more so to public trust bestowed upon us by the people we ought to serve and protect,” NCRPO chief Maj. Gen. Jonnel Estomo said in a statement.
“We will ensure that these police officers will face the consequences of their actions after a thorough investigation,” Estomo added.
He said the probe would also determine whether there were lapses on the part of the commanding officers of the suspects in supervising them.
Estomo lauded the victim for reporting the incident to authorities even if the suspects are police personnel.
“This proves that the people are aware of and support our commitment against corruption, misbehavior and all forms of violations committed by police personnel,” Estomo said.
