ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — Local fishermen found a block of cocaine valued at P5.3 million in a coastal village in South Ubian, Tawi-Tawi on Thursday.
Sabri Iskan and his brother Alih, who found the cocaine along the shore in Barangay Bubuan, alerted barangay captain Mursed Asdain, who turned over the illegal drugs to the local police.
Personnel of the 21st Marine Company, Tawi-Tawi police and intelligence unit transported the illegal drugs to Bongao on Friday for verification by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
Police said it was not the first time that fishermen have recovered cocaine along the shore in the southern part of the country.
