MANILA, Philippines — A man accused of abducting and raping a four-year-old girl and sending photographs to the victim’s family was arrested in Quezon City on Friday.
Jose Cajandab Jr., 26, was collared by operatives of the Quezon City Police District at his residence along Bato Bato street in Barangay Commonwealth at around noon, QCPD director Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre said in a message on Viber.
Torre said the victim identified Cajandab as the person who raped her on Dec. 6 through photographs of the suspect that were shown to her.
Probers said the suspect entered the victim’s home at around 2 a.m. and snatched the child and the cell phone of the girl’s mother. Cajandab then brought the child to an undisclosed location.
The girl was later rescued by concerned citizens along Riverside street in Barangay Commonwealth.
When interviewed by a police investigator, the victim narrated that the suspect raped her.
Probers said Cajandab reportedly took photographs of the girl’s body using her mother’s cell phone, then sent the pictures to a relative of the victim.
Charges of abduction, rape, child abuse and theft are being prepared by police against the suspect.
