BOCAUE, Bulacan, Philippines — Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. and local government officials of Bulacan led by Gov. Daniel Fernando inspected fireworks stores in this town yesterday.

The officials said they wanted to ensure that firecrackers and pyrotechnic dealers, sellers and manufacturers comply with existing laws.

The inspection is also part of the PNP’s crackdown on sellers and manufacturers of illegal firecrackers to minimize fireworks-related injuries during Christmas and New Year celebrations.

In response to reports that some dealers of prohibited firecrackers are selling their products online, Azurin said the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group has intensified its operations.

PNP officials showed photos of some of the banned firecrackers. Among the prohibited firecrackers are Goodbye COVID, Goodbye Bading, Kwiton Parachute, Kwiton Bomb, Bin Laden, special plapla, kabasi, Coke-in-can, atomic, giant atomic and Goodbye Philippines.

Azurin said piccolo is also prohibited. - Emmanuel Tupas
