7 nabbed for cable wire theft

MANILA, Philippines — Seven men were arrested yesterday for allegedly stealing cable wires owned by telecommunications firm Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. in Quezon City.

The suspects were Reanjun Quintero, 29; Julius Tamina Jr., 27; Ambrocio Mitra Jr., 40; G-bhoy Parado, 20; Gemar Alfante, 19; Jess Juan, 48, and Venancio Reyes, 41.

They were nabbed at the corner of Regalado Avenue Extension and Mindanao Avenue in Barangay Greater Lagro at around 2:43 a.m.

The suspects’ arrest stemmed from the complaint of a PLDT security guard who saw them allegedly stealing cable wires in the area.

The suspects were intercepted as they were about to escape in a van with the loot. They are being held on theft charges.
