Farmer mistaken for wild boar shot dead

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — A farmer mistaken for a wild boar was shot dead in his farm in Tigbao, Zamboanga del Sur on Tuesday.  The victim was identified as Antonio Barcenal, 70.

Initial investigation showed Limpiado Tapic, 33,  and his companion Dennis Laure went to the house of Barcenal to seek permission to hunt for wild boar in the farm.

Presuming that Barcenal had left, the two proceeded to hunt.

Tapic fired when he heard rustling, only to discover that he had shot Barcenal.

The suspect surrendered on Wednesday.
