Teacher, kagawad held for drugs

LAGUNA, Philippines — A public school teacher and a barangay kagawad have been arrested in anti-narcotics operations in Sta. Cruz and Lumban towns in this province.

Col. Randy Glenn Silvio, Laguna police director, said John Paul Costa, 39, was apprehended in a drug bust along M.H. del Pilar street in Barangay Poblacion 3 on Thursday.

Police said 1.9 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of P13,000 were recovered from the suspect.

In Lumban, a village councilman identified only as Len and her alleged cohort known only by his alias of Walter were apprehended in a sting in Barangay Maracia on Wednesday.

Shabu worth P3,500 was reportedly recovered from the suspects.
