MANILA, Philippines — President Marcos and Vice President Sara Duterte enjoy high approval ratings among Filipinos living in Metro Manila, based on a survey conducted by the RP-Mission and Development Foundation Inc. (RPMD).
Results of the Nov. 3 to 10 survey released yesterday showed that 70 percent of the respondents approved of Marcos’ performance in the first five months of his presidency.
Some 68 percent said they approve of Duterte, who is also the education secretary.
Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri obtained an approval rating of 64 percent. Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez got 55 percent and Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo, 52 percent.
Among Cabinet secretaries, RPMD said Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos obtained the highest approval with 75 percent followed by Social Welfare Secretary Erwin Tulfo with 73 percent; Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia-Frasco, 71 percent; Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista, 69 percent, and Solicitor General Menardo Guevarra, 67 percent.
The Armed Forces of the Philippines received the highest approval rating among security agencies at 67 percent, followed by the National Bureau of Investigation with 65 percent and the Philippine National Police with 56 percent.
The respondents were also asked to assess the performance of their respective mayors.
