BI looking for rescued Chinese man

The Philippine Star

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — A Chinese man rescued from suspected kidnappers in Cavite last month has been reported missing.

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) and the Chinese embassy are searching for the man after his rescue was published in The STAR, which identified the kidnap victim as Pan Yongping.

Reports said an anti-kidnapping team from Camp Crame rescued Pan from his captors in Bacoor on Oct. 29.

After his rescue, the Chinese was not reportedly turned over to the BI.

An immigration officer, who requested anonymity, told The STAR that the Chinese embassy requested the agency on Nov. 1 to help them locate Pan.

Pan’s relatives reportedly asked the embassy to help them find him. He reportedly entered the country through Mindanao in 2019.

Pan reportedly worked at a technopark using a fake passport.

Lt. Col. Gilbert Cruz, Bacoor police chief, said the rescue operation was recorded in the police station.

Pan, who was first reported missing a month ago, was rescued in an industrial park in Bacoor.

Relatives said they last talked with Pan in September.
