HPG probes luxury vehicle with PNP markings
MANILA, Philippines — The police Highway Patrol Group (HPG) has started its investigation to identify the owner of a high-end vehicle with police markings, a photo of which went viral on social media platforms.
HPG director Brig. Gen Clifford Gairanod directed the group’s National Capital Region (NCR) field unit and its motor vehicle clearance division to investigate and identify the owner and driver of a white Toyota Alphard multi-purpose vehicle.
A photo of the vehicle was first posted on the Facebook page of mobility website Visor last Nov. 8.
The HPG is conducting the probe as the vehicle has markings of “Pulisya” on its hood and a PNP logo on its front door.
The vehicle costs around P4.17 million, according to Toyota’s website.
The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said the vehicle, which was spotted traversing Ayala Center in Makati, is not included in its list of issued police vehicles.
Executive Order No. 297 prohibits the unauthorized manufacture, sale, distribution and use of uniforms, insignias and other accoutrements of the PNP.
“If this vehicle is not a legitimate police car, the illegal use of PNP seal/logo is prohibited in any private or public vehicle and NCRPO will never tolerate this once it is apprehended within our area of jurisdiction,” the NCRPO said in a statement.
The NCRPO has alerted all its units to apprehend the vehicle once spotted traveling in Metro Manila.
