LTO revokes license of truck driver in Quezon City smash-up
MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has revoked the license of a truck driver involved in a multiple vehicle collision in Quezon City last September.
The LTO found Franklin Caramihan guilty of reckless driving and driving under the influence of illegal drugs.
Caramihan claimed that he lost control of the truck as he was traversing the Katipunan flyover in Barangay Escopa 3 on Sept. 27.
The crash resulted in a smash-up, which caused physical injuries, damage to property and traffic jams in the area.
Caramihan was perpetually disqualified from securing a driver’s license and driving a motor vehicle.
He was directed to surrender his driver’s license to the LTO and fined P2,000 for reckless driving.
The registered owner and operator of the truck, Sky Dragon Steel Center Inc., was also found liable for employing a reckless driver, and ordered to pay P5,000.
LTO chief Teofilo Guadiz vowed to intensify the campaign against drunk and drugged driving.
