Remulla’s son pleads not guilty in drug possession case
MANILA, Philippines — Juanito Jose Remulla III pleaded not guilty to charges of illegal possession of dangerous drugs.
The son of Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla entered his plea during his arraignment at the Las Piñas Regional Trial Court Branch 197 yesterday.
A report over GMA News’ “Balitanghali,” quoting one of Remulla’s lawyers, said the arraignment was conducted via video conferencing.
It is unclear why the proceedings were done virtually.
The younger Remulla was in his detention cell at a Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency office during his arraignment.
Remulla was arrested last Oct. 11 after he received a package that contained nearly 900 grams of high-grade marijuana valued at P1.3 million.
He is facing a separate charge before the Pasay City prosecutor’s office for importation of prohibited narcotics.
