Motorbike thief killed in Nueva Ecija

CABANATUAN CITY, Nueva Ecija, Philippines — An unidentified motorcycle thief was killed in an alleged shootout with law enforcers in this city shortly after midnight on Monday.

Reports reaching Col. Richard Caballero, acting Nueva Ecija police director, said the slain suspect stole a motorcycle in Barangay Kapitan Pepe.

The suspect refused to pull over when flagged down at a checkpoint in Barangay D.S. Garcia and instead fired at law enforcers, the report stated.

A blue motorcycle with no license plate, a .45-caliber pistol and bullet shells were recovered at the scene.
