Passengers flock to NAIA as flights resume
MANILA, Philippines — Thousands of people flocked to domestic terminals at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) yesterday after airlines resumed flights to accommodate passengers who were affected by cancellations due to Severe Tropical Storm Paeng.
Cebu Pacific and AirAsia canceled at least 38 domestic flights due to bad weather over the weekend.
Cebu Pacific said the airline resumed its recovery flights to be able to transport passengers headed to the provinces for Undas.
Several local and international flights were canceled due to the onslaught of Paeng.
Cebu Pacific and AirAsia appealed for understanding from passengers.
Meanwhile, agents of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) at the NAIA are on heightened alert for the Undas break.
Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco said he instructed BI personnel to assist travelers going to the provinces.
“We have enough manpower to cater to the needs of travelers,” Tansingco said.
