Ralph Edwin Villanueva - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Police arrested four persons for reportedly firing a gun inside the Manila Memorial Park in Parañaque yesterday.

Taken into police custody were Danilo Conot, 56; Leonie Estrada, 29; Gregorio Donor III, 30, and John Kennedy Ibanez, 22.

Conot is a maintenance worker of the memorial park while the others are caretakers.

Southern Police District director Brig. Gen. Kirby Kraft said the suspects allegedly engaged in a drinking session in the cemetery.

“They resisted arrest and shouted invectives at the responding policemen,” Kraft told reporters.

Police said they recovered from the suspects an Armscor .38-caliber handgun and ammunition.

The suspects are being held on charges of violating Republic Act 10591, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition, alarm and scandal as well as resistance and disobedience to persons of authority.
