Ilocos Norte eyed as ‘tourism rest area’

Artemio Dumlao - The Philippine Star

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — The province of Ilocos Norte is being considered to host one of 10 pilot “tourism rest areas” in the country, according to Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia-Frasco.

The project is part of the government’s tourism development strategy, Frasco said, noting that clean restrooms with lounges are among the most basic aspects of travel.

These rest areas will be constructed on Saud Beach Park in Barangay Saud, Pagudpud, she said.

In April 2021, international magazine Travel+Leisure named Saud Beach as one of the 25 most beautiful beaches in the world.
