P25 million marijuana seized in Kalinga

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — Police and agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) seized marijuana bricks and oil with an estimated value of P25 million in Sitio Dinakan, Barangay Dangoy in Lubuagan, Kalinga on Friday.

Cordillera police director Brig. Director Mafelino Bazar said three persons, including a woman, whom he did not identify, were arrested for possession of the illegal drugs.

He said the suspects were in a Toyota Hi-Ace pulled over at a checkpoint.

Bazar said the van and cellular phones of the suspects were also confiscated.

Meanwhile, in Bulacan, Edgar Labay was killed in an alleged shootout with anti-drug operatives in a sting in Barangay Pinaod in San Ildefonso City yesterday.

Reports reaching Brig. Gen. Cezar Pasiwen, Central Luzon police director, said Labay drew his gun when he sensed he was dealing with undercover agents.

Police said a .45-caliber pistol with magazine, five sachets of shabu and P3,000 in marked money were recovered from the fatality.

Also, in Bulacan, dried marijuana leaves worth P1 million were reportedly confiscated from Pethuel Mizona and Danica Romero in Barangay Abangan Sur in Marilao on Friday.
