3 slain in clash with Maguindanao CIDG agents

COTABATO CITY, Philippines — Three alleged cohorts of a suspected carjacker were killed in a gunfight with agents of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in Salipada K. Pendatun, Maguindanao del Sur on Thursday.

The fatalities were identified as Dang Mamedtad, Cosme Malawan and Ronald Oriol.

Brig. Gen. John Guyguyon, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao police director, said CIDG agents were supposed to arrest Jehar Siya in Barangay Midkundig when the suspect and his cohorts opened fire.

Siya managed to escape.

Local officials said the suspect was also tagged in large-scale trafficking of shabu in Salipada K. Pendatun and nearby towns.
