MANILA, Philippines — A suspected member of a West African drug syndicate was arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in Las Piñas City on Monday night.
The NBI-National Task Force Against Illegal Drugs launched the operation against the still unidentified foreigner at a resort in Las Piñas.
In a television interview, NBI agent Henry Kanapi said the suspect yielded three to four kilos of shabu hidden in plastic water purifier tubes.
At least P160,000 was also confiscated from the suspect.
“This is an interdiction operation against foreign nationals who exploit our countrymen to transport illegal drugs,” Kanapi said.
2 students caught with marijuana
Meanwhile, two high school students who were cutting classes were apprehended after they were caught in possession of marijuana on Monday.
The students, both 15-year-old boys from different schools, were taken into custody at around 12:40 p.m. while loitering at the Quezon Memorial Circle in Barangay Central, police said.
A security guard on roving patrol spotted the students while in possession of two pieces of paper.
When the security guard confronted the boys, it turned out the pieces of paper contained 0.5 grams of marijuana.
The students were brought to the Kamuning police station for investigation.
Police are investigating where the boys got the illegal drugs.
