MANILA, Philippines — Three men were arrested for posing as personnel of the Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau (MTPB) on Monday night.
Jericho Estares, Mark Buzeta and Almario Duque were arrested for allegedly extorting money from motorists along Road 10 and Mel Lopez Boulevard for offenses such as beating the red light and illegal parking, according to Manila Police District (MPD) Station 1 commander Lt Col. Rosalino Ibay Jr.
The three were arrested in an entrapment operation after receiving P1,000 to settle a traffic violation along Mel Lopez Boulevard, according to the MPD.
The three wore uniforms of MTPB personnel.
The MTPB confirmed to the police that the suspects were not among its personnel. The suspects will face charges of robbery extortion and usurpation of authority.
