Lanao Sur kagawad slain in anti-drug ops

COTABATO CITY, Philippines —  A barangay councilman was killed in an alleged shootout with anti-narcotics agents in Saguiaran, Lanao del Sur on Thursday.

Abuhanan Dimaporo Sultan of Barangay Limogao reportedly had links with the Dawlah Islamiya terrorist group.

Maj. Albin Cabayacruz, Police Station 5 commander, said a .45-caliber pistol and 300 grams of shabu worth P2.04 million were recovered from the fatality.

Sultan and his three companions identified only as Marko, Nadir and Arab were supposed to deliver the illegal drugs to their contact in Saguiaran when they allegedly opened fire when police tried to flag down their vehicle.

Sultan’s cohorts managed to escape.
