MANILA, Philippines — The No. 3 man of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) has been designated as the new public information officer of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
PNP chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. appointed Col. Redrico Maranan as head of the police public information office.
Maranan, a member of the Philippine National Police Academy Class of 1995, replaced Brig. Gen. Roderick Augustus Alba, who was reassigned as director of the Central Visayas police.
As the PNP’s chief publicist, among Maranan’s functions is to promote a positive public image for the police force as well as establish a professional working relationship with reporters covering Camp Crame.
Prior to his appointment, Maranan was the QCPD’s deputy director for operation. He also served as director of the Pangasinan police.
When he was the police chief of Marikina, Maranan and Mayor Marcelino Teodoro had a misunderstanding after the local chief executive allegedly withdrew support for the local police. They eventually reconciled their differences.
Alba, meanwhile, thanked members of the media whom he interacted with for more than a year.
“I hope I have helped you in accomplishing your tasks as journalist,” he said in a statement.
