Quezon City jail male dorm cited as top ALS center
MANILA, Philippines — The Quezon City Jail Male Dormitory (QCJMD) has been recognized as the top Alternative Learning System center in the city’s 4th District after the facility registered the highest number of passers in the ALS examinations.
The QCJMD recorded 237 ALS passers followed by the Quezon City female dormitory and Krus Na Ligas High School, with 156 and 136 passers, respectively.
The QCJMD was also recognized as the third Best ALS Learning Center at the Division level behind Barangay Commonwealth High School (462 passers) and Ismael Mathay Sr. High School (243 passers).
The Quezon City Schools Division Office handed the awards on Sept. 17 during the “Alternative Learning System Gawad Parangal 2022” at the Benigno Aquino Elementary School.
“We congratulate all the students who passed the ALS exams, especially the inmates,” Mayor Joy Belmonte said in Filipino.
“May this achievement serve as the start of your reformation and progressive lives in the future. May this also serve as a tool in reaching your dreams,” she added.
To date, the QCJMD has 37 enrollees for elementary education, 90 for junior high school and 102 for senior high school.
