PDEA: No resurgence in activities of drug rings
MANILA, Philippines — Despite the seizure of at least P6.7 billion worth of shabu in Manila last week, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) maintained yesterday that there is no resurgence in the activities of drug rings.
PDEA spokesman Derrick Carreon said the drug problem remains under control under the administration of President Marcos.
“We are continuing the campaign against drugs, with no less than the President on top of the situation,” Carreon said in an interview on ANC.
The Philippine National Police confiscated around 990 kilos of shabu in Manila on Saturday.
One of the suspects arrested during the sting is an operative of the Drug Enforcement Group.
Meanwhile, police seized P340,000 worth of shabu from a high-value drug suspect and his three cohorts in Quezon City yesterday.
Eric Floro, 40, listed as the second most wanted drug dealer of the Masambong police station 2, was nabbed along with Zalde Espigon, 58; Jurry Bernardo, 34, and Michael Torres, 38.
