P33 million modular facility to rise at Army HQ

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Army and Armed Forces and Police Mutual Benefit Association Inc. (AFPMBAI) on Tuesday broke ground for a P33-million modular building that will serve as a transient facility for soldiers at Fort Bonifacio in Taguig.

The AFPMBAI also turned over P19 million worth of mobility assets, information and communications technology equipment, four electrocardiogram or ECG machines, five computer sets and other office equipment to the Army.

Army spokesman Col. Xerxes Trinidad said the donations would be used by various offices and major units of the Philippine Army.

AFPMBAI president and former Army vice commander Maj. Gen. Rizaldo Limoso led the turnover ceremony.

Army Vice Commander Maj. Gen. Camilo Ligayo attended the event, representing Army chief Lt. Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr.

The donation forms part of the AFPMBAI’s commitment to allot part of its income for the social services-related programs of the AFP major service branches and the Philippine National Police.

“The Army is fortunate to have AFPMBAI whose genuine benevolence for soldiers has bolstered our operational capacity,” Ligayo said.

“These equipment will further empower our men in fulfilling their core purpose of serving the people and securing the land,” he added.
