Task group to probe Rizal attack
CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — A special investigation task group has been created to dig deeper into an attack in Antipolo, Rizal that killed three persons and wounded three others on Sunday.
Task Group “Dumangas” is composed of personnel of the provincial intelligence unit, forensic division of the scene of the crime office and the local police.
The group will be supported by the officers of the Highway Patrol Group and Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, according to Col. Dominic Baccay, Rizal police director.
Aside from the victims’ relatives, two eyewitnesses submitted their testimonies to authorities.
“The task group has identified several individuals that could be considered as persons of interest,” Baccay told The STAR yesterday.
He said probers are eyeing a land dispute as the motive for the killing.
The victims were in a convoy of three motorcycles and a sedan when they were attacked in Sitio Cabading.
The assailants, who were also on three motorcycles, cut the convoy and shot the victims several times before fleeing toward Baras town.
