28 Manila families get land titles
MANILA, Philippines — Twenty-eight landless families were given land titles in Manila last week, according to Mayor Honey Lacuna.
Lacuna, Vice Mayor Yul Servo and the city government’s Urban Settlements Office chief Cris Tenorio led the distribution to qualified beneficiaries from Districts 2, 3 and 4.
The land titles were distributed to the beneficiaries in a ceremony at city hall on Friday.
The beneficiaries were given lots under the city government’s “land for the landless” program, which allows families to pay off the property within 30 years.
In Malabon, 37 housing units at St. Gregory Homes in Barangay Panghulo were raffled off on Saturday to qualified residents living in hazard zones along waterways.
Over 1,300 housing units are allotted for indigent families, Mayor Jeannie Sandoval said, adding that 200 houses would be raffled off soon.
