MANILA, Philippines — Two persons were injured after eight vehicles figured in an accident along the Katipunan flyover in Quezon City yesterday morning.

The smash-up occurred along the southbound lane of the flyover in Barangay Escopa 3, according to a report from the Quezon City Police District.

Probers said a 10-wheeler truck bound for Col. Bonny Serrano Avenue hit a sport utility vehicle at around 8:15 a.m.

Six more vehicles collided during the mishap.

Authorities took into custody the truck’s driver, Franklin Caramihan, 42.

Caramihan will face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in physical injuries, police said.

The suspect told police that the truck’s brakes malfunctioned.
