Radioman nabbed for cyber libel

Ralph Edwin Villanueva - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — A radio broadcaster has been arrested on charges of cyber libel in Cebu City, police reported over the weekend.

Arnold Bustamante was arrested for alleged violation of Republic Act 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.

Police said the charges were filed by a local business establishment after Bustamante allegedly branded its product as fake and harmful to the public.

Brig. Gen. Joel Doria, chief of the police Anti-Cybercrime Group, said Bustamante was arrested on Friday based on a warrant issued by Cebu City Regional Trial Court Judge Ramon Daomilas Jr.

A bail of P10,000 was recommended for Bustamante’s temporary liberty.
