Militiaman slain in NPA ambush

Gilbert Bayoran - The Philippine Star

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — Four suspected New People’s Army (NPA) guerrillas shot and killed a member of the Civilian Armed Force Geographical Unit Active Auxiliary (CAA) in Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental on Saturday.

Joselito Raboy, 40, of the Army’s 62nd Infantry Battalion Delta Company, was on a motorcycle when the rebels waylaid him in Barangay Montilla, according to Brig. Gen. Inocencio Pasaporte, chief of the Army’s 303rd Infantry Brigade.

The military expressed belief that the killers were members of the NPA’s liquidation squad.

Pasaporte said Raboy was unarmed and off-duty when he was killed.
