MANILA, Philippines — An increase in fares for motorcycle taxis is not likely even as jeeney and bus fares will go up beginning Oct. 3.

Wayne Jacinto, general manager of Move It, said they are not planning to file a petition for a fare hike while the motorcycle-taxi industry is awaiting legislation for its operations.

“Hindi pa sa ngayon. Wala pang iniisip na taas-pasahe,” Jacinto said during the Kapihan sa Manila Bay forum yesterday.

Move It, which was recently acquired by Grab Philippines, is among the authorized players for the motorcycle-taxi sector, along with Angkas and Joyride.

Under the pilot run, regulators set a base fare of P50 for motorcycle taxis and up to P15 per succeeding kilometer.

Move It has doubled its rider fleet to 2,000 in the first month since it was acquired by ride-hailing giant Grab.
