Dengue cases in Valenzuela up 148%

MANILA, Philippines — Dengue cases in Valenzuela City increased by 148 percent, the local government reported yesterday.

Based on data from the city health office, 1,743 dengue cases were recorded in Valenzuela from Jan. 1 to Sept. 17.

Of the figure, 1,037 patients tested positive in dengue rapid tests while 706 others showed symptoms of the water-borne disease.

The local government reminded the public to immediately seek medical assistance from the nearest barangay health center if they manifest fever and other dengue symptoms for two days.
