SUBIC, Zambales, Philippines — Residents of Zambales and Olongapo will enjoy lower electricity costs starting this month after local power distributors made final their agreement to reduce the rates they charged to consumers.
The Zambales Electric Cooperative I and II (Zameco I and II) and the Olongapo Electricity Distribution Co. (OEDC) agreed to a long-term implementation of the price rollback effective this month.
The power companies finalized the agreement during a meeting with Zambales Rep. Jefferson Khonghun on Saturday.
Zameco I agreed to reduce the rates by P3.61 per kilowatt-hour or from P18.32 to 14.71 per kwh.
Zameco II will reduce its charges by P5.46 per kwh or from P20.47 to P15.01 per kwh.
Zameco I serves Botolan, Candelaria, Iba, Masinloc, Palauig and Sta. Cruz.
Zameco II serves Cabangan, Castillejos, San Antonio, San Felipe, San Marcelino, San Narciso and Subic.
The OEDC, which serves Olongapo City, will reduce rates by P2 per kwh.
