MANILA, Philippines — Police have intensified the manhunt for at least 20 suspects in the killing of two Chinese in Parañaque City last July, which was recorded in a viral video.

Brig. Gen. Jonnel Estomo, director of the National Capital Region Police Office, said those who murdered Zhang Xialong and Ziyu Meng, both 30 years old, should be put in jail.

“I ordered our tracker teams to intensify the manhunt operations, to put the at-large suspects behind bars and make sure that all those involved in this incident will suffer the consequences of their evil deeds,” Estomo said in a statement.

A viral video of the incident showed the victims being shot and stabbed, which raised concern over the peace and order situation in the country.

Police said the incident happened at an apartment building in Marina Bay, Barangay Don Galo on July 22.

Estomo said charges have been filed against the suspects, two of whom were identified as King Aglubos Lee and Jeffrey Orlanes.

Orlanes was arrested at a hospital in Pasay where he sought treatment for a gunshot to the body.

Orlanes, Aglubos, four unidentified Chinese and 16 other Filipinos were charged with murder before the Parañaque prosecutor’s office on July 24.

Estomo said one of the Filipinos is a businesswoman while 13 are her personal bodyguards.

The other Filipinos were identified through their aliases as “Kuya Pulis,” “Ramos” and “Kuya.”

Estomo has ordered a probe of the Parañaque police after Orlanes was ordered released by the prosecutor for further investigation.
