7 hurt in Cotabato grenade attack

COTABATO CITY, Philippines — Seven persons were wounded when a grenade exploded in a restaurant in this city on Sunday night.

The victims were identified as Sittie Amirkan, Mary Joy Antolan, Parson Guiaplos, Omar Jamalodin, Jewel Martina Lenis, Maricel Lenis and Noranifa Uy.

Probers found a safety lever of an MK-2 fragmentation grenade at the scene of the incident that occurred at around 9 p.m. at the Park ‘N’ Dine Restobar in Barangay Rosary Heights 2, according to Capt. Kenneth Rosales, chief of the city police Precinct 1.

The victims were rushed to the Cotabato Regional Medical Center for treatment of injuries.

Rosales said probers would check footage of closed-circuit television cameras installed in the area to identify suspects.
