MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) distributed cash aid and food packs to families displaced by a fire in Barangay Obrero, Quezon City on Wednesday.
DSWD Secretary Erwin Tulfo led the distribution of relief assistance to 59 families whose homes were damaged by the fire.
The DSWD said 34 families or 136 people are taking shelter at Don Alejandro Roces High School Science Technology Institute.
The agency provided over P40,000 in cash assistance to the affected families.
The fire victims also received hot meals, hygiene kits and other basic needs from the city government’s social services department.
Tulfo said a total of P517.03 million in Quick Response Fund and another P5-million standby funding are available at the DSWD central office and its National Capital Region field office, respectively.
