SUBIC, Zambales, Philippines — Power providers in Zambales and Olongapo have agreed to reduce power rates by P2 to P4 per kilowatt-hour following a meeting with Zambales Rep. Jay Khonghun on Saturday.
The Zambales Electric Cooperatives (Zameco I and II) and the Olongapo Electricity Distribution Co. (OEDC) agreed to reduce their rates by P2 to P4 per kwh.
ZAMECO I serves the towns of Botolan, Candelaria, Iba, Masinloc, Palauig and Sta. Cruz. It will reduce rates by P2 per kwh.
ZAMECO II serves Cabangan, Castillejos, San Felipe, San Antonio, San Marcelino, San Narciso and Subic. It pledged to reduce rates by P4 per kwh.
Khonghun said the power cooperatives agreed to a long-term implementation of the price rollback.
The meeting was attended by Zameco I general manager Isagani Yap, Zameco II president Reynaldo de Jesus and general manager Romwil de Jesus, OEDC president Jose Maria Abaya and San Miguel Energy Corp. general manager Ellen Go.
