MANILA, Philippines — A man who reportedly leads a drug gang was arrested in a sting with over P6 million worth of marijuana in Caloocan City before dawn on Friday.
Jenny Roy Dayrit, 24, allegedly sold a kilo of marijuana to an undercover anti-narcotics operative in a room of a residential building in Barangay 18, according to a report from Col. Ponce Rogelio Peñones Jr., acting Northern Police District director.
The sting was staged by the city police, the National Capital Region Police Office and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
Lawmen confiscated 52 bricks of marijuana, wrapped in cling plastic and each weighing a kilo, with a street value of P6.24 million from Dayrit. Police said the marijuana came from Kalinga province.
The suspect allegedly leads a group that supplies illegal drugs in Caloocan and nearby areas.
Dayrit was previously arrested for the same crime, but was released after entering into a plea bargaining agreement, police said.
