MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has earmarked P110.27 million for the supply and delivery of ballot boxes to be used in the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections in December.

The amount will cover 22,054 units of ballot boxes at P5,000 each, according to a four-page invitation to bid signed by bids and awards commission (BAC) chairperson Helen Aguila-Flores.

The Comelec gave assurance that the bidding would be conducted through open and competitive procedures.

The poll body said the sale and issuance of bidding documents started on Wednesday. A virtual or online pre-bid conference will be held at 10 a.m. on Sept. 14.

The Comelec reminded interested bidders to send a request for the link of the pre-bid and bid opening through bac.secretariat@comelec.gov.ph and bacsecretariat.pmd@gmail.com with their proof of identities and other information.

Comelec Commissioner George Erwin Garcia said the Comelec would continue with its preparations until a law postponing the twin polls is signed.
