Moneylender shot dead

John Unson - The Philippine Star

COTABATO CITY, Philippines — A moneylender was gunned down in this city on Thursday.

Mohammed Rifard Siddeek, 46, a native of Sri Lanka, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and died at the scene.

Col. Querubin Manalang, city police chief, said the victim had just gotten out of his car that he parked along Don Rufino Avenue in Barangay Mother Poblacion when the assailant approached and opened fire.

The gunman and his companion fled on a motorcycle.

“It seems they knew that Mr. Siddeek would be going to the area where he was attacked. The suspects could have followed him,” Manalang said.

On April 1, Siddeek survived an ambush in Barangay Semba in Datu Odin Sinsuat, where he was a resident.
