Dengue-related deaths rise in Negros Occidental
BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — Dengue-related deaths in Negros Occidental have risen to 27 while cases rose by 1,008 percent.
Provincial health officer Dr. Ernell Tumimbang said 3,956 cases were recorded from January to Aug. 27 compared to only 357 during the same period last year. Three new deaths were also recorded.
Dengue attack rate in the province was at 150.82 cases per 100,000 people.
Clustering of dengue cases was reported in 119 barangays, with Himamaylan City having the highest number of cases at 341. Pontevedra logged the highest increase in cases at 5,166 percent.
