SC fires court stenographer for gross misconduct
MANILA, Philippines — A court stenographer in Tarlac has been dismissed by the Supreme Court (SC) for being “habitually disrespectful, disobedient and offensive.”
In an 18-page decision, the SC said Lorna Martin, court stenographer I, was found guilty of gross misconduct, which is a violation of the Code of Conduct for judiciary personnel.
Martin has been stripped of her cash benefits and civil service eligibility. She can no longer work in any government office.
The SC also found Martin guilty of six counts of gross insubordination for her refusal to receive six memoranda issued by Judge Gandia-Asuncion of the Municipal Trial Court of Sta. Ignacia, Tarlac.
“Martin’s actions undermined the authority of her superior with utmost arrogance and lack of respect,” the SC said.
She was fined P36,000 for her refusal to submit her psychological evaluation test to the court.
