MANILA, Philippines — Two former officials of the Philippine Aerospace Development Corp. were sentenced to up to 16 years in prison over the anomalous release of a PADC aircraft spare part to a private retailer in 2008, which in turn sold the part to the Philippine Navy.

In a 70-page decision promulgated on Aug. 26, the Sandiganbayan’s Seventh Division found former PADC president Danilo Crisologo and former senior vice president Roberto Manlavi guilty of violating Republic Act 3019 or the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act as well as malversation of public property under Article 217 of the Revised Penal Code.

Crisologo and Manlavi were sentenced to up to 10 years in prison for graft, with the accessory penalty of perpetual disqualification from holding public office.

For the malversation charge, Crisologo and Manlavi were sentenced to up to six years in prison.

They were also ordered to pay P111,754 fine, representing the value of the lost spare part.

The anti-graft court ordered the charges filed against Louise Cabahug, PADC consultant and storekeeper, to be archived as she remains at large.

The Sandiganbayan has dismissed the cases filed against private respondent Generoso Quilatan, president of Wingtips Parts Corp., following his death in December 2018.
