MANILA, Philippines — Operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) have arrested 113 wanted persons during intensified anti-criminality operations.
CIDG director Brig. Gen Ronald Lee said the arrests were made during 130 law enforcement operations conducted across the country on Aug. 24.
Three of those apprehended are most wanted persons in the regional level, eight in the provincial level, 12 in the municipal or city level and 90 other fugitives.
Michael Roberts, who was ranked seventh among most wanted persons in Central Luzon and is facing three counts of rape, was arrested in Barangay Cabalan in Olongapo City.
Christian Labarda, the most wanted fugitive in Eastern Visayas, who also has a warrant for rape, was collared in Carigara, Leyte.
Calabarzon’s most wanted fugitive, Rolando Roque, was arrested in Cabuyao, Laguna for murder.
“With the recalibrated anti-criminality programs and the diligence of our personnel, the CIDG was able to accomplish more than what was expected,” Lee said.
In Cavite, suspected gunrunner Romeo Dizon Sr. yielded a Carbine rifle, a caliber .45 pistol, a 9mm and a caliber .38 revolver, Col. Marlon Santos, CIDG-Calabarzon director, said.
”The suspect was engaged in buying and selling loose firearms for almost a year. We are also checking reports that some of his clients are members of a gun-for-hire gang operating in Cavite,” Santos said.
In Nueva Ecija, Felizardo Van Manuel, the most wanted person in Aklan, was arrested in Barangay Mayamot in Talugtog.
